Computers Desktops or Laptops (Also covered in Chapter 3 Training DVD Vol.1) See Adobe VC3 minimum system requirements HERE Required Computer Features: -Windows XP is preferred in my opinion, but users have had success running it on Vista and Windows 7.
-A built-in firewire port, OR empty slots for adding firewire cards (one firewire card needed per camera, up to 3 cameras permitted).
-A discrete (3rd party) video card capable of TV-output (known as "dual head"). TV output jack may be an s-video or composite video out jack (see picture at right). ATI Radeon or NVidia GeForce based cards are highly suggested. What To Avoid: -Computers that use integated or onboard video, known as "shared video RAM" instead of a third-party video card discribed above. Some users had issues using video cards like NVidia's Quadro series cards, as these OpenGL cards are more intended for graphic/drafting programs like AutoCad. Recommendations: -I've had great success with a Toshiba laptop that I purchased and customized. It came preloaded with Windows XP and has a video card with an s-video output. While I did go for all the "bells and whistles" you could still order a similar model with less extras like extended life battery, bluetooth, etc. See this screenshot for the specs on my Toshiba laptop, and use link below for Toshiba Laptops direct from manufacturer to save $$$.
